La rivincita del peccatore(1): TDD in Multithread

Per testare una possibile soluzione a questo bug avevo la necessità di testare l’utilizzo della CPU di un’applicazione Java che in alcune situazioni può creare N thread in parallelo.
L’occasione è stata ghiotta per sperimentare un’estensione di JUnit che permette di testare ambienti multithread. JUnit infatti non offre supporto nativo per questo task, ed anzi il testing in multithread è stato visto dai TDD-scettici come un forte limite all’adozione reale del TDD, ma con GroboUtils o TestNG è ormai banale riuscire a lanciare N thread e a testare che valgano delle proprietà alla morte di tutti i thread in questione, piuttosto che testare che i thread muoiano entro un periodo di tempo, eccetera.
Di seguito la manciata di righe che ho scritto con JUnit + GroboUtils per creare i miei N thread, aprire JProfiler e controllare di non aver problemi di CPU.

Tutto sta nell’incapsulare la logica da eseguire dentro un Thread, nel metodo runTest() di una classe che eredita da TestRunnable, istanziare N oggetti di tale classe nel nostro test-case e passare l’array di questi N oggeti al coordinator di GroboUtils che gestisce il ciclo di vita dei nostri Thread (MultiThreadedTestRunner). Stimolando il coordinator con runTestRunnables(), GroboUtils esegue in ordine casuale l’array di oggetti iniettati nel costruttore, attendendo la morte di tutti i thread prima di passare all’istruzione successiva del testCase. Semplice, no?
Mi farebbe piacere sapere da voi come testate l’utilizzo della CPU da parte di applicazioni Java, visto che il linguaggio non offre nessuna primitiva per farlo.

I now experience problems with an otherwise good system. This issues all the suden started and I can’t recall installing or changing anything that would cause this issue.
When I plug my Speedtouch wireless USB network stick into my Windows XP Computer (not laptop) windows reboots itself. Sometimes it does it immediately, other times it’ll take 20 seconds or even up to 5 minutes before it restarts. After rebooting it will enter a cycle of rebooting everytime the system gets as far as the mouse cursor. Ocassionally icons will appear and then it’ll reboot. Removing the USB device from the port it boots normally. I can run the computer, play games, work, do whatever and it’s fine until the USB wireless stick plugs in again.
I have tried the USB Wireless stick in every USB port available (2 fore and 2 aft). My USB keyboard and wireless mouse work fine in all the available sockets.
I have run system restore to numerous points, and gone back as far as I can with that.
I have tried an indentical Speedtouch USB network stick (running fine on another PC) and it does the same. Both sticks work in a second PC.
I have removed and re-installed the Speedtouch software.
I have run a full AVG 8.0 Antivirus scan with no faults found.
I have run hijackthis and with nothing unusual.
I have the ‘automatically restart’ option unticked in the system properties bar with reference to system failures.
I have run Dells System check from the Bios/Startup menu. It threw up a couple of USB connection faults that seemed hardware related. I don’t have those details as didn’t write them down but could get them if it’d help?
Below are system details etc:
Dell Dimension E522 (12months old)
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+
1024Mhz Ram
Windows XP Media Centre Version 2002. Service Pack 3. Version 5.1.2600.

1. Промойте рис, высыпте
его в сотейник с широким дном и залейте
1 стаканом водички. Закройте
крышкой. Когда вода закипит, варите еще 15 минут на медленном огне. Возмите сотейник с плиты
и дайте рису настояться 15 мин. Крышку не снимайте! Потом
положте рис в большую посуду, добавьте смесь из сахара,
уксуса, соли и помешайте деревянной ложкой стремительными режущими движениями,
помахивая крышкой над рисом, чтобы удалился уксус.
2. Амаров необходимо отогреть, положив их в водичку - так они останутся
сочными. Бережно почистить, оставив хвостики, аккуратно надрезать вдоль по внутренней (вогнутой) стороне и “распластать”.
Рыбу порезать на ровные квадратики. Филе рыбы разложите на доске. Резать тоненькими
ломтиками, держа нож наискосок. Щупальце осьминога сначала нужно отбить, чтобы стало мягким, затем отварить 15 минут в воде. Охладить и порезать тоже наискосок.
3. Опустите руки в мисочку с подкисленной уксусом водой и скатайте рис в маленькие шарики (диаметром 5-5,5 см) или колбаски, плотно сжимая их, для лучшего склеивания.
Держа шарик (колбаску) “суши” в левой руке, указательным пальцем руки положите на него немного васаби, затем шматки рыбы, осьминога, кальмара, гребешка, краба или отварные
креветки и осторожно сожмите в руках, чтобы придать форму. Кусочек рыбного филе, который вы положите на рис, должен быть по размеру немного больше. Можно порезать водоросли nori на длинные полоски
(шириной 0,5 см) и обернуть вокруг суши, скрепляя концы водорослей, намочите водой.
4. Подавайте на прямоугольном блюде, сбоку выложив маринованный имбирь и хрен-пасту wasabi, в отдельную тарелку налейте соевый соус.

In a Facebook posting headlined “Fox Hollywood — What a Disappointment,” the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee and current Fox News contributor said Sunday night’s episode felt like “another kick in the gut.” Palin’s youngest son, Trig, has Down syndrome.
The episode features the character Chris falling for a girl with Down syndrome. On a date, he asks what her parents do.
She replies: “My dad’s an accountant, and my mom is the former governor of Alaska.”
Palin resigned as Alaska governor last summer.
Palin’s oldest daughter, Bristol, also was quoted on her mother’s Facebook page, calling the show’s writers “heartless jerks.”
“When you’re the son or daughter of a public figure, you have to develop thick skin. My siblings and I all have that, but insults directed at our youngest brother hurt too much for us to remain silent,” she is quoted as saying.
“If the writers of a particularly pathetic cartoon show thought they were being clever in mocking my brother and my family yesterday, they failed,” Bristol Palin added in the Monday posting. “All they proved is that they’re heartless jerks.”
Palin wrote that she’d asked her daughter what she thought of the show and Bristol’s reply was “a much more restrained and gracious statement than I want to make about an issue that begs the question: When is enough enough?”
This isn’t the first time Palin has spoken out over an attack, real or perceived, on her family. Last year, she condemned a joke David Letterman made about her daughter, for which he later apologized.
A “Family Guy” publicist didn’t immediately return an e-mail seeking comment.
